Welcome to the Kids Site at Berwick Public Library!

The Berwick Public Library offers books and much more for children of all ages, as well as resources for parents, caregivers, and teachers. Books include board books and picture books for toddlers and younger children, as well as junior fiction and nonfiction including biographies.

The picture books are located in a separate area of the library stored in colorful train carts, easily accessible for kids and parents to view and choose stories they like. The collection includes audio tape/picture books, DVDs, videos, CDs, and games.

The children’s room also features a variety of puppets, toys, puzzles and a train set, We encourage kids to come and play! There are smaller tables and chairs available plus coloring pages, crayons, and scissors.

If you need help finding a particular book, talk with the Youth Services Librarian or ask at the Circulation Desk. Children are eligible to receive their own library card at age 5. With parental permission, they may also use the library’s computers and access the Internet.
Programs

The library provides special programs for toddlers and for older kids described in more detail on other pages.

See the Tales for Tots page for details about story hour for ages infant to three, presented weekly on Friday mornings at 10:30 a.m., no pre-registration required.

Children of all ages are welcome at either of these story times. The reading selected simply will be geared towards the specified age ranges, but all are welcome!

We also offer a Summer Reading Program for children that kicks off in June – kids can earn prizes by achieving weekly reading goals! See the Summer Reading Program page for more information.

We periodically offer other events for children at the library including author visits and guest speakers from other groups such as the Seacoast Science Center. We encourage you to visit the Children’s Events page and calendar for program offerings.
